Pinatas Have Feelings, Too
This was my overzealous final project from my senior year at IU. I’m not even sure what version this is of it, because I shot over 8 hours of footage for what was supposed to be a 5-10 minute video.
It follows a Pinata activist group as they attempt to organize a protest of a local party outlet. It’s rough at times, dry as the driest of mockumentaries, but has its fair share of redeeming moments.
I’m posting because I need to make more new content, and maybe if I put this stuff out there it will help motivate me to do so. Having moved from LA to Chicago this year I’ve fallen out of my comedy/production network, and while I wholeheartedly love writing and producing Destructo Box, it’s not the same sense of satisfaction I get from making a great live action short film or sketch.
I’m not sure if anyone outside of the small circle involved in the making-of really enjoys it, or has ever seen it for that matter, but there’s a lot of fun that went into it. I’ve never laughed as hard as I did while shooting the sections with Alex explaining where his music comes from, and I still can’t get over my Dad did as the party supplies salesman. Really everyone came together to help me out in a huge way, and for that I was and am very grateful.
I don’t expect anyone to sit through all 23ish minutes, but enjoy nonetheless! (count the typos throughout the lower-third text for a special prize)
